Outreach

There are many opportunities for visitors, clients, media and educational professionals at FloWave. If you or your organisation wish to visit or use the facility we welcome enquiries by email.

Working with Us

Are you part of an organisation, company or research group working on a prototype ocean technology or new research method? If the FloWave facility could be of use to you and your goals then you can enquire directly with the FloWave team. We have an experienced team and have completed tank testing programmes for many of the key players in marine energy, with close ties to Wave Energy Scotland, MaRINET2 and EuropeWave. Visit our offshore wind, wave, tidal and ocean technology pages for more information on our track record.

Outreach and Education

Education

Are you a teacher, student or tutor looking to give your students an exciting and eye opening piece of science education? There are many opportunities for teachers and young people here at FloWave. From primary schools, secondary school classes, to youth groups; many students have visited FloWave to gain an insight into the workings of the ocean, renewable energy and tank testing. FloWave have been part of the Junior Saltire Award scheme and primary school pupils taking part generated the first power produced in the FloWave test tank. We have also hosted several "doors open" days where visitors can freely come and see FloWave's capabilites. Our team are delighted to provide these opportunities and invite all those who wish to learn more.

Media

Are you a science communicator, online science influencer or media organisation? If so, we welcome you to come and film here at FloWave. As the most advanced wave tank of its kind, filming is a great opportunity to inform about developments in science, renewable energy and climate change. In the past we have had online creators such as The Slow Mo Guys film at FloWave to considerable success with as film as part of their Planet Slow Mo series, produced by Rooster Teeth. We have even hosted an event during the Edinburgh International Film Festival showing The Edge of the World (1937) and synchronising the tank's waves with waves appearing in the movie. If you have any enquires along these lines please do email the team at FloWave.
